About

Anne was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. At just 10 months old, Anne became Deaf due to Spinal Meningitis and began learning American Sign Language (ASL) at the age of one. After moving to St. Louis, Anne was mainstreamed in the Special School District and graduated from Parkway West High School.

In 2004, Anne earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Illustration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Following this, Anne attended the University of California, Northridge, majoring in Art Education in 2005, and later transferred to Gallaudet University to major in Deaf Education in 2006. After a decade and a half break from higher education, Anne returned to St. Louis in 2008.

Anne's passion for teaching sign language was discovered while working at Paraquad Independent Living Center, where Anne taught ASL 1 for several years. Additionally, Anne contributed to DEAF Way Interpreting Services by improving the evaluation and proficiency of sign language interpreters.

To further her dreams, Anne returned to Gallaudet University and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Sign Language Education (MASLED) in 2022, graduating in May 2024.

With a keen interest in language acquisition and learning sign languages from other countries, Anne is currently exploring Language Signed Mexican, British Sign Language, and Filipino Sign Language. In addition to a love for languages, Anne enjoys art, reading, and swimming.

"Teaching sign language and helping my husband achieve his dreams is not just a profession for me; it's a passion. I believe in the power of communication and the beauty of connecting with others through sign language." - Anne
